JD Funeral Parlour was founded in 1981 in Rockville, Soweto, by Joyce Dibane Tsotetsi. As a pioneering woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry, she introduced a unique blend of compassion, sensitivity, and personalised care that quickly set the business apart. Her vision of delivering dignified, high-quality service to families remains at the heart of who we are today.
In 1983, as the organisation grew, JD Funeral Parlour relocated to its current home in Molapo, Soweto. This move reflected the trust and confidence our community had placed in us—a trust we continue to honour through ongoing growth, service excellence, and community commitment.
